Les Arts Valencia House Debut

To begin the new year, after his successful debut as Roméo with Washington National Opera, Mr. Smith makes his next house debut of the season, at Les Arts in Valencia. He reprises the role of The Prince in Dvořák’s enchanting opera, Rusalka

Although his repertoire has shifted towards primarily Italian and French repertoire, Mr. Smith is looking forward to exploring Dvořák’s music once again. Derived from Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué's fairytale Undine and influenced by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, this Christoph Loy production tells the tragic tale of a water nymph who sacrifices her immortality and voice to gain the love of a prince, only to be rejected by him, leading to a tragic fate. Under the baton of Maestro Cornelius Meister, Mr Smith is joined by Olesya Golovneva as Rusalka, Sinéad Campbell-Wallace as The Foreign Princess, Enkelejda Shkoza as Ježibaba and Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev as Vodnik.

Watch him perform The Prince’s aria at Opera de Limoges here.

Performances are set for January 30th; February 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 11th. Tickets and more information can be found here.
