Italian Debut

After a successful debut at Greek National Opera, Mr. Smith makes his Italian debut, performing the role of Erik in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Inspired by the legend about a ship’s captain condemned to sail forever, in combination with Wagner’s own experience of a particularly rough sea crossing, Der Fliegende Holländer was the composer’s first step to musical drama, encompassing music that simmers and rages like a howling tempest. Under the baton of Maestra Oksana Lyniv, Mr. Smith shares the stage with Peter Rose as Daland, Thomas Johannes Mayer as The Dutchman and Elisabet Strid as Senta. The soloists are accompanied by the chorus and orchestra of the Teatro Comunale.

Performances are held on January 28 and 31st. For tickets and more information, click here.
