Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana

Adam Smith reprises the role of Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana on June 10, 2026, marking his house debut at the Latvian National Opera.

One of the defining dramatic tenor roles of the verismo repertoire, Turiddu brings together moments of tenderness alongside flashes of anger and desperation. Smith has drawn praise for bringing both vocal strength and dramatic detail to the role. Listen to him perform a snippet from the aria here

The performance marks Smith’s debut at the Latvian National Opera and a return to a role that has become a central part of his Italian repertoire.
